Your friends, family and business associates are all gathered in a dimly lit room, the smell of fresh flowers fills the air. At the front is a beautifully decorated table laced with candles. In the middle of that table is a large shining ornate box and in that box… is you.
I don’t mean to be morbid, just realistic. The one question burning deep inside us all is “do I have a purpose?” We spend countless hours planning our career and building our home, but we miss the first crucial step: what is our purpose? If we would only take the time to discover our purpose first, it would be ten times easier to pursue the most important steps.
I truly believe that everything in this world was created with a purpose in mind…
Think about this:
Air has a purpose, right? Trees have a purpose, right? Animals have a purpose, right? Humans have a purpose, period(.)
First things first:
Know that you were created with a purpose.
Are there pointless humans? No, I don’t think so. There might be people on street corners begging for change that do not seem to have purpose. Is that truly the case, or did they just give up on purpose and trade it in for something else, like drugs? (I do not believe that everyone on the streets is on drugs. There are many people that have just lost sight of their purpose) There are many people that are discouraged, disillusioned and wondering what went wrong… DO NOT be a passive spectator, watching your life unfold one day at a time. DO NOT let pride, power, purity, or greed get in the way. Get over your grudges and move forward. No one can derail you from your destiny but you. It is never too late to get your act together and walk in your:
How Do We Discover Our Purpose?
Here are a few key steps to help you get on your way:
1) Write down in detail (designate a paragraph to each) the answer to this questions: How do I want to be remembered by my family, my spouse, my friends, my colleagues, and the world? (You can add or take away some categories if there are other more significant parties)
2) You have been created with a specific gift or set of gifts unique to your person. Write them down and discover how you can maximize them. If you are having trouble figuring out what your gifts are, sit down with a close friend or family member and have them point you in the right direction.
3) Don’t wait for an opportunity to show up before you start using your gift. Walk in your gift right NOW and opportunity will follow.
If you ever get discouraged, read this memoir:
